Welcome to the website of the Junior League of Chicago!
The Junior League of Chicago was founded in 1912 by a group of young women committed to improving the lives of those in greatest need in our city. As we begin our 99th year of service, our mission has evolved to read:
Junior League of Chicago is a metropolitan organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
The tradition of improving the lives of Chicagoans continues today through the work of our 1,500 committed volunteers. We manage nearly 20 community projects in partnership with local nonprofit agencies that share our same concerns about at-risk women and girls. To support our mission and projects, we raise more than $250,000 through our fundraising efforts each year. We also advocate on behalf of issues that are important to the League, such as early childhood education and childhood obesity. We further these movements through our work with like-minded businesses, government and other nonprofit organizations. Our foundation that supports all these tenants of our mission is our education and training model that delivers innovative and relevant training sessions to ensure our volunteers have the skills they need to be effective in the community.
As we prepare to celebrate our Centennial Anniversary in 2012, we have identified four key objectives to help us commemorate this historic milestone:
1. Celebrate our impact in the community 2. Increase the visibility of the Junior League of Chicago 3. Engage our members and former members 4. Secure our financial future
We are excited to celebrate with our members and the many friends and supporters who have made our success possible.
It is my honor to serve as President of the Junior League of Chicago, and I encourage you to explore our website, attend our fundraisers and talk with our members to learn more about our organization and the mission we proudly work on behalf of every day.
Warmly, Regina Wootton
President 2010-2012
