Our Community Project Spotlight
Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center and their partners are the front-line respondents in Chicago to reports of child sexual abuse. They also respond to reports of child physical abuse, witness to violence, and other serious maltreatment. Since opening their doors in 2001, they have served more than 34,000 children.
Chicago CAC is the city’s only not-for-profit organization that coordinates the efforts of child protection staff, law enforcement professionals, family advocates, medical experts and mental health clinicians under one roof. Together, CAC investigates alleged abuse, conduct forensic interviews, provide family advocacy, reduce trauma and identify resources so that children and families may begin the healing process. Additionally, Chicago CAC’s education, prevention & policy team facilitates training for professionals and community members on preventing, recognizing, responding to and reporting abuse. The team also conducts training on trauma-informed environments, protecting children with disabilities and more.
